Professor Arlans Siqueira

Professor Arlans Siqueira is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He is famed for being the UK's first authentic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor to teach in the UK when he emigrated from his native Brazil in the mid 1990’s having even been acknowledged by the Gracies as being so. Arriving in the UK in the 1990’s he would go on to defend the name of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the UK as the Gracie’s were doing in the US. Professor Arlans Siqueira has taught his style of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to fighters who fought in the early now banned bare knuckle Vale Tudo cages matches and more recently Cage Rage fighters.

Professor Arlans Siqueira’s main teacher Professor Roberto Ferreira came from the Leao Dourado (Golden Lion) Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association and  having been a direct student of Master Hilton Leon. Professor Roberto Ferreira’s competitive reputation speaks for its self as having fought the likes of Fabio Gurgel and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and members of the Gracie family in National BJJ tournaments.

Professor Arlans Siqueira first started training in Kung Fu at the age of 13 and then at the age of 15 he permanently commited himself to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Whilst training in Jiu Jitsu he also trained in Judo and Luta Livre (Brazilain No-Gi Submission Grappling) in Brazil.

In September 2007 the Kimura Gym opened and Professor Arlans Siqueira returned to teaching BJJ at Kimura Gym.

Professor Arlans Siqueira's educational background having been in Engineering has studied a Bachelor of Science Degree in Brazil. He has served in the Brazilian armed forces as a marine. His disciplined background adds to his style and flare for teaching. His teaching skills have been considered to be the finest. He has been approached by some of the UK’s largest BJJ schools and asked to teach for them. His teaching credentials speak for themselves.

Professor Arlans Siqueira has also taught seminars to Special Forces units in the Middle East as well as teaching control and restraint to UK Police Officers, London Fire Brigade Fire Fighters and Officers from the UK Border Agency.

Professor Arlans Siqueira is currently active in not only teaching his Jiu Jitsu Fight Team in the UK but is also a competitive fighter himself.

Below is an exert from an article by Martial Arts Illustrated printed in respects to Professor Arlans Siqueira return to teaching in 2007.

“ At 6ft 1in tall, aged 24, weighing in at a muscular 90kg and with model like looks, Arlans would go on to introduce the British public to BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), the true art of submission. Many would be grapplers and strong men came and fell in battles with this great Titan. In 2000 the Siqueira BJJ Academy officially closed due to family and work commitments, disappearing like a ghost. The UK’s first ambassador of BJJ had slipped away into the night, but the fire slowly burned in the ashes waiting for a time to return.”
